19-year-old dies after being assaulted

A 19-year-old boy who was attacked by two youngsters over personal enmity in South-east Delhi’s Okhla Industrial area died on Sunday. However, police have made no arrests so far.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 6.30 pm on November 2 when the victim Suraj had a fight with two boys Raja and Akshay, one of whom is a Dalit boy. They were having an argument when Raja took a stone and smashed it on Suraj’s head. After that, they both fled from the spot.

Amit, one of Suraj’s neighbor said that Suraj was attacked by five to seven youngsters. He was first admitted in AIIMS Trauma center where his condition was said to be critical and then was taken to a private hospital after which he was finally transferred to the Safdarjung hospital where he died due to severe head injuries. He further added that before hitting Suraj with a stone, the group of youngsters brutally thrashed him with iron rods and sticks.

A case of attempt to murder was registered at the Okhla Industrial area police station which has been converted to murder under relevant sections of the IPC against the accused persons. Police have started search operations to nab the accused persons.
