170 cases of corruption in DDA in 3 yrs

Over 170 cases of alleged corruption and irregularities have been reported in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the last three years, Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath said on Tuesday.

In reply to a question in Lok Sabha, he said there were 34 corruption-related complaints in the DDA in 2009. In 2010, the number increased to 74 while there were 65 corruption and irregularity-related complaints in 2011, as per the details provided by Nath.

The Urban Development Minister also gave details as per which in 2011, major penalty had been imposed on officers in 76 cases while minor penalty had been imposed in 13 cases.

In 2011 itself, three cases were under trial in various courts while another four cases were being investigated in the Economic Offences Wing.

In reply to another question in Lok Sabha related to the Urban Development ministry, Minister of State Sougata Roy said 20705.29 square yards of land belonging to the Land and Development Office (L&DO) in the New Delhi Municipal Council area had been encroached by religious structures.
