15 of marriage party die in accident

Fifteen members of a marriage party, including the bride and the groom, were killed and three others injured when their vehicle collided with a truck on NH-31 near Madarihat on Friday.

The vehicle was coming from Birpara after the marriage ceremony and collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction, SP Akash Meghariya said. While 12 people, including the bride and groom, died on the spot, six were seriously injured. The deceased also included the driver and his assistant of the vehicle. Of the six injured, three died in a hospital at Siliguri. Condition of others was critical, he said. The truck has been seized and its driver arrested.
