15 more low-floor buses to add colour to city

Delhi Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely on Wednesday flagged off 15 buses under cluster-III bus service, route No 410 operational from Jal Vihar Terminal to Khyala, under the public private partnership to usher in modern and state-of-the-art public transport system for the capital city.

According to the government, these buses will bring in advanced mode of travel and provide a safer, more efficient and reliable and better quality public transport system for the benefit of commuters of the city.

The transport ,inister said 200 more vibrant orange colour buses would be added in the cluster bus service by the end of this month.

These hi-tech new buses are semi-low floor equipped with GPS for real-time monitoring of their location, speed and so on. These buses are also well equipped with in-built speed governors to regulate the speed of the buses.

Interestingly, collection of Delhi Transport Corporation [DTC] has been increased from Rs 90 lakh to around Rs 3.5 crore per day.

The department claimed that as many as 1,000 cluster buses would be plying in the city by the end of this year to provide better transportation system in all over Delhi routes.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of flagging off the route, Singh said that the Sunheri Nallah Depot on Lodhi Road, a new depot, has been made ready for phase-1 operation in a record time of under three months by the Delhi Integrated Multimodal Transit System Ltd [DIMTS]. The depot would be catering to around 220 buses.
