13-year-old girl found dead in her room

Mystery shrouds the death of a 13-year-old girl at Tamluk in East Midnapore after her body was found in a first floor room of their house on early Friday morning. Police confirmed that the victim Beauty Jana died after her neck was strangled. But the police are yet to ascertain whether it is a case of homicide or suicide.

A police officer said the victim had taken dinner on Thursday night with other members of the family and went to sleep in her room situated in the first floor of the two-storeyed building. Her family members didn’t find anything suspicious in her behavior. She used to sleep alone in her room while her parents slept in another room in the ground floor. Unlike other days she didn’t go down to meet her parents in the morning which roused the suspicion of her parents.

They went to the first floor and found the doors of the victim’s room wide open. They entered the room and found her lying with a piece of cloth tied around her neck. Local people rushed to the spot hearing their cries and informed the police. The police sent the body for an autopsy. The police initiated a probe and spoke to the victim’s family members.

Since the police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind her murder, the investigating officers are leaving all chances possible behind the crime. They are trying to find whether anyone had entered the house in the wee hours and left the place after killing the girl. Some valuables were found strewn on the floor of the room, thus the police are not ruling out the possibility of murder.
