13-month-old rescued within 30 hrs of kidnapping; lady doctor, other gang members arrested

Ghaziabad police rescued a kidnapped toddler within 30 hours of his kidnapping and arrested five members of the gang. The kingpin of the gang who is a lady doctor was also arrested while a member of the gang is still absconding.

According to police 13-month-old Yash was kidnapped from Ghaziabad on Monday. The police started investigation and on the basis of witnesses identified  his two neighbours — Sunil and Rahul  — who were last seen with the child. The cops picked them up for sustained interrogation.

The duo revealed that they had kidnapped the child and handed him over to a middle man, named Chandgir,  in Laxmi Nagar area. The police immediately raided the residence of Chandgir and arrested him. He informed that he had handed over the child to a woman doctor in the area named Anita.

She, in turn, informed the police that the toddler had been handed over to a childless couple. The police team in coordination with Delhi Police rescued the child from the Jain family.

“Sunil and Rahul told me that they were the guardian of the child,” said Anita pleading innocence. But according to police she was the kingpin  of the gang and struck the deal at Rs 3 lakh from the Jain family.

“We are investigating if the gang had committed similar crime in the past. So far, they have not revealed anything about their previous crimes but their modus-operandi reveals that they are hardcore criminals,” said a senior police officer of Ghaziabad.

The cops have also arrested the Jain couple who had reportedly paid Rs 3 lakh to the woman doctor for the child. The police have not been able to recover the money so far and raids are still being conducted to recover the amount.
