12-year-old girl gang-raped, one arrested

A minor girl was allegedly gang raped at a brick kiln at Mahishadal by local youths on Saturday. The police initiated a case after the incident. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and the doctor said that her condition is stable now.

One of the accused Sheikh Mohammad (20) was arrested on Sunday morning. Police said that the girl was alone in the brick kiln. Her grandfather and grandmother, who also work there, were out for some work.

The accused jumped over the wall and reached the 12-year-old girl. She was given a lozenge which was actually a sleeping pill. The girl fell ill after taking the pill and the youths raped her there.

“We’ve informed the police. The police took one of the accused in their custody. But the others are still at large,” said the grandfather of the victim girl. However, the doctors completed the medical process and declared the girl safe.

“She is safe now. But we’ll check her from time to time. She is weak and scared,” said a doctor.

The grandfather and grandmother of the victim girl reached to the district magistrate on Sunday. 

They alleged against the management of the brick kiln and demanded compensation from them. They have also urged the district magistrate to take step against the brick kiln management.

“We have assured all help to the old couple who came here on behalf of their grandchild. The victim lost her parent during childhood. Her grandmother and grandfather are daily wage labourers,” said an officer at district administration office.
