12-year-old bullied, thrashed and sexually assaulted by youth; 3 held

A 12-year-old boy with some learning disability was allegedly bullied, brutally assaulted with knives, water pipes and sexually assaulted by three youth after the accused got into a verbal altercation with the minor boy when the boy went over to pick up a snapped kite which landed on their terrace in the Sanjay Park area of East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Sunday evening.

Admitted in the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital in Kalyanpuri, the child recounted the horror to his widowed mother and cops who had came to take his statement.

Recalling the ordeal, the mother shared how the accused’s landlord and his family approached the victim’s mother and offered her Rs 500 to hush up the matter.

“Sushil’s (landlord) mother came today (Monday) morning. She offered me Rs 500 telling me to get my son treated and suppress the matter. Then few minutes later, his son also came and threatened me,” the mother of the 12-year-old told Millennium Post. 

The mother said that after her husband died, she survives on the money she receives as room rent and the meager pension she receives from her husband’s organisation.

Sources, meanwhile, said that police have arrested the three youth and a case under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act has been registered against them.

According to the family members of the minor boy, Saransh (name changed), a class VIII student went out to fly a kite at around 6 pm on Sunday when his kite landed at the terrace of the accused. One of the cousins shared how Saransh was threatened not to disclose to anybody about the thrashing he received, lest they would throw him off the terrace.

Talking to Millennium Post, one of the cousins of the minor boy shared: “Saransh is a slow learner and mostly remains quiet. It was in the evening when he went out to fly a kite that the incident took place. He usually returns home within an hour. Four hours passed. We searched everywhere. He was nowhere to be found. At around 10.30 pm, three youth, carrying Saransh came out of their building and dropped him outside his house. Her mother panicked. She was about to shout when they started yelling at her, manhandled her threatening her to remain quiet, and fled.”

Kept in a dingy room on the terrace of a three-storeyed building, Saransh was allegedly gagged, beaten with knives and water pipes. 

Family members further alleged that he was profusely bleeding from his private parts. They informed the police after which the cops rushed him to LBS hospital, said the family.
