104 villages electrified last week under DDUGJY

 Among these 104 villages 7 are in Arunachal Pradesh, 17 in Assam, 23 in Jharkhand, 6 in Rajasthan, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 13 in Bihar, 3 in Chhattisgarh, and 27 in Meghalaya.

A total number of 7,874 villages out of those without power have been electrified till last week with an addition of 104 to the network, the Power Ministry said on Monday. Out of remaining 10,357 villages, 455 villages are uninhabitable. 

The government is planning to electrify 6,652 villages through grid, 2,897 villages through off- grid where grid solutions are out of reach due to geographical barriers and 353 villages are by the respective state governments. In view of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation on the Independence Day, the government has decided to electrify the remaining 18,452 unelectrified villages within 1,000 days i.e. by May 1, 2018. 

The project has been taken on mission mode by the government and strategy for electrification consists of squeezing the implementation schedule to 12 months and also dividing village electrification process in 12 stage milestones with defined timelines for monitoring. The progress of ongoing electrification process can be tracked on http://garv.gov.in/dashboard.

In order to expedite the progress further, a close monitoring is being done through Gram Vidyut Abhiyanta (GVA) and various actions are also being taken on regular basis by the Power Ministry like reviewing the progress on monthly basis during the RPM meeting, sharing of list of villages which are at the stage of under energisation with the state Discom, identifying the villages where milestone progress are delayed.
