10-yr-old, three others killed in mishaps in Noida

A 10-year-old boy and three BPO operators died in two separate accidents in Noida and Greater Noida on Wednesday. The people in Greater Noida then burnt the truck that crushed the boy to death.

Bhavishya Sharma, 10, was riding pillion on a bike when it was hit by a truck on railway road in Dadri region of Greater Noida on Wednesday afternoon. Angry residents blocked traffic in the area for close to an hour, eventually setting the truck on fire.

Senior police officers said the truck driver, Shivpal, was apprehended by locals, beaten up and handed over to police. According to police, the boy was going home after school with his uncle on his bike.

In another accident in Noida, three BPO operators were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a canter in the early hours of Wednesday morning on a crossing near Noida, Sector 63.

The deceased have been identified as Shubham Singhal, Robin Lodhi and Bhanu Pratap, who were returning from the house of a friend in E block, Noida, Sector 63.

While Shubham and Robin died on the spot, Bhanu succumbed to his injuries at Fortis hospital early in the morning.

The driver of the canter is in a critical condition at the hospital. Noida police refused to disclose his identity. The impact was such that the Mahindra Scorpio turned turtle several times over, and landed on the opposite side of the divider, said a senior police official.

While Bhanu Pratap lives with his mother in Ghaziabad, Robit and Shubham are originally residents of Lucknow and Kanpur respectively.
