1 killed, 2 hurt as tanker hits women in Dwarka

A woman was crushed to death while other two were injured after they came under the wheels of a speeding water tanker in South-West Delhi’s Dwarka North on Monday, police said. The errant tanker driver has been arrested.

The incident took place late Monday evening when the three women, along with their children, were sitting at a roadside. The tanker driver lost control and hit the women, police said. The errant tanker driver allegedly tried to flee but irate residents nabbed him and handed him over to the police.

The police took all three women to the hospital, where one Kosi Devi was declared brought dead. The other two victims were undergoing treatment, they added. 

A case under relevant Section of the IPC has been registered against the driver and  further investigation is underway, police said. There were no reports if the tanker has been impounded.
