1-day strike by insurance staff

Employee unions of the public sector insurance companies went on a one-day strike on Monday to protest against raising FDI in the sector to 49 per cent. The one-day strike called by the Bharatiya Vima Kamgar Sena (BVKS), the All-India LIC Employees’ Federation and a few other unions of state-owned general insurance companies to protest against higher FDI in the sector. BVKS president Sharad Jadhav said that the union would soon discuss the issue with other unions to chalk out the future strategy for similar strikes, before the Insurance Bill is presented on the floor of the Rajya Sabha.
