... And traffic chaos for others

Commuters in several areas of the city had a harrowing time on Friday as rains in the national capital caused waterlogging leading to traffic snarls at major traffic junctions.
Long queues of vehicles were seen at Laxmi Nagar, ITO, Kashmere Gate, Munirka, Dwarka and Dhaula Kuan during morning rush hour when people go to offices and children to school.
Wazirpur Industrial Area, Ashok Vihar, Mahipalpur, Bhogal, Jangpura, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Dhaula Kuan, Janakpuri, Patel Nagar and Khajuri Khas also witnessed heavy traffic jams.

‘There was slow traffic movement in Mori Gate and Dhaula Kuan’, a traffic department official said.
'I was supposed to go Connaught Place from Laxmi Nagar. It took an hour to cross the ITO intersection on Friday morning. It normally takes only fifteen minutes everyday,’ said Mehak Jain, a commuter.

An office-goer said, ‘There was almost a 3-km-long traffic jam in the Ring Road area in front of AIIMS due to heavy waterlogging. I reached officer around two hours late.’
Commuters at the bus terminal in Sarai Kale Khan faced a harrowing time due to major waterlogging in the terminals, the buses were parked on the main road. Streets were waterlogged due to clogged drains and thus the speed of traffic movement was reduced to a crawl.
