Youth held for threatening to attack girl with acid

A 25-year-old man was arrested by for allegedly threatening to attack a girl with acid after her family rejected his marriage proposal, police said on Thursday.

According to the complaint filed by the girl’s mother, their neighbour, Rohit allegedly barged into their residence in Vasundhara here on Wednesday night and threatened them with dire consequences if they do not marry her daughter to him, Indipuram SHO Gorakh Nath Yadav said.

The family later raised an alarm, following which the neighbours caught hold of Rohit and handed him over to the police, Yadav said.

The girl narrated her ordeal to the police and said that she had filed a complaint in against the youth, but a compromise was reached after his father assured that no such incident will occur in future, the official said.

A First Information report (FIR) under Sections 354 (molestation), 452 (house trespass), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Rohit and he has been sent to jail, the station house officer added.
