A youth has been sent to seven years in jail by a Delhi court for stabbing to death his relative in a fit of rage. The court, however, diluted the murder charges framed against 24-year-old Sachin and convicted him for culpable homicide not amounting to murder saying it was not proved that he had intention to cause the victim's death.
District judge J R Aryan awarded the jail term to north-east Delhi resident Sachin and refused to release him on probation saying he had assaulted the victim, his brother's father-in-law, with a knife which led to the man's death.
'Considering the young age of the accused, no previous involvement in any criminal incident and the circumstances in which the offence has been found to have been committed, I award a sentence of seven years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5000 to the accused under section 304-II of the IPC,' the judge said.
