Youth bludgeoned to death, three arrested

A 22-year-old youth was battered to death by a group of eight men in the Delhi Cantonment area of South-west Delhi on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as Aakash. Police have arrested three persons in connection with the case. The arrested accused have been identified as 
Neeraj Kumar, Narender Kumar and Ajith, all in their twenties.

According to sources, Aakash was the son of a DJB official and was a student of Class XII. According to the police, the incident took place at around 5.30 pm when Akash was playing cricket at Timaya Park in the Cantonment area. A resident of Sangam Vihar, Akash was living with his maternal uncle for some time as his parents were out of station.

Police said that at the time of the incident, eight bike-borne men came up to Akash and engaged in a heated argument which later turned violent. They started punching him, kicking him and also beat him up with sticks which led to his death. Badly injured in the scuffle, the accused fled from the spot after beating Akash black and blue.

The accused were later identified as Neeraj Kumar, Narinder Kumar, Ajith, Gaurav, Deepak, Vishal, Vijay and Laxman. A case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the IPC was registered at 
Delhi Cantonment police station.  Later, the section of murder (302) of IPC was added in the case.
