The Ministry of AYUSH, headed by Shripad Naik, will be organising the yoga shivir from April 27 to May 4 for all MPs of both the houses.
“The yoga camp has been organised especially for parliamentarians in the first phase as they have a very stressful life and have important responsibilities for the society. Once they understand the importance of yoga and meditation, they can communicate to masses as well,” Naik said on Thursday.
The camp, Samarpan Dhyanyog Shivir, will be organised for MPs and their families from 6-8pm everyday at the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga in the national Capital. The shivir is being organised in association with the Yoga Prabha Bharti (Seva Sanstha) Trust, Mumbai. Yoga guru Yogacharya Shivkrupanand Swamiji will teach MPs about meditation.
Taking a jibe at the yoga shivir, Congress MP in the Upper House Satyavrat Chaturvedi told Millennium Post that the Modi government needs to impart yoga lessons to BJP MPs first as they are the ones who create ruckus in the House. Replying to a question if he would be attending the event, Chaturvedi said, “I have not received an invite yet. Even if I get the initiation, I wouldn’t be going.” The Minister for AYUSH has also urged the public to practise yoga and contribute in the celebrations of International Yoga Day on June 21.
