Yasin Malik arrested in Srinagar

Police on Monday morning arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Yasin Malik from Lal Chowk when he was trying to join the people for congregational Eid prayers in the flood ravaged street. Severe restrictions have been put in the area and forces have barricaded the Chowk.
A JKLF spokesman in a statement said that the police arrested Malik ahead of Eid namaz in Lal Chowk.
‘The Nimaz was proposed by the flood hit people of many localities,shopkeepers, businessmen and trade bodies. The businessmen and and the people whose business and houses have been destroyed by recent floods intended to appeal international community for immediate help and assistance to come out of the worst situation people of Kashmir are in because of the recent floods’ he said adding that the police laid a cordon during the night to foil the plans. Claiming the curfew had been imposed in the area he condemned the government action.
