Yamuna Expressway’s toll rates increased

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Thursday hiked the toll rates for Yamuna Expressway which connects the National Capital Region with Agra during the board meeting. 
The increased prices will be applied from Friday. The 165-kilometre long Yamuna Expressway, that connects Greater Noida to Agra, was opened to public in 2012. After the hike, two and three-wheelers have to pay Rs 1.25 instead of Rs 1.10 per kilometer. 

Cars, jeeps and light motor vehicles Rs 2.50 as earlier it was Rs 2.20 per kilometer. Prices for light motor vehicles are now increased from Rs 3.45 to Rs 3.85 per kilometer. Bus and trucks will have to pay Rs 7.85 per kilometer as earlier it was Rs 7. HCM vehicles, EME or a MAV vehicle that run on 3 to 6 axels will now have to pay Rs 11.90 per kilometer instead of Rs 10.75. Oversized vehicles that run on 7 or more axels will have to pay Rs 15.40 per kilometer as earlier it was Rs 13.70. The authority has also decided to build more ramps on expressway to help the traffic jam-hit areas like Jewar.

In January 2015, the Uttar Pradesh government had allowed hike in toll following which rates were hiked by 10 paise to 80 paise per kilometre. Following the approval, toll rates were raised by Rs 10 to Rs 30. 
Jaypee Infratech, which operates the toll, had announced revised toll rate for two-and three-wheelers from Rs 165 to Rs 75, while for car and jeep from Rs 330 to Rs 360 and for light commercial vehicles it was hiked from Rs 550 to Rs 565.
