Three weeks after the Yamuna Authority received approval for 2031 Plan from the state government, it has now kept aside the plans of special economic zones (SEZ) and special development zone (SDZ) from the plan after the NCR Planning Board objected to them.
Last week, the planning committee in a meeting had rejected the proposals for SEZ and SDZ which was proposed to have been set up on 100 and 1,000 acre of land, respectively. The Yamuna Authority had proposed to build them for residential, industrial and economic activities.
However, the board had only given approval for allocating land for industrial purposes. The board had argued that builders might misuse the land allocated for special development and economic purpose by selling it for residencies.
It had feared that if the proposal is passed then there are chances that sky high residential buildings would be constructed on the SEZ and SDZ lands that will not serve the purpose of these special zones.
The authority is now planning to once again send the proposal to planning board for re-consideration.Â
