Yadav, Bhushan ousted

According to sources, the Delhi Chief Minister started his speech at the party’s National Council by recounting AAP’s journey last year, from the lows of quitting the government, followed by its Lok Sabha debacle to the high of a historic victory in the Delhi Assembly polls.

“He traced the party’s journey from the last National Council meet to the current one,” a senior leader said.

In the meeting, nearly 300 people were present where Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia moved the resolution to oust Yadav and Bhushan. The resolution was passed, bringing the curtains down for the two founder members of the party that was born in 2012.

“Out of a total of 392 members of the National Council, 311 attended the meet. 247 members voted in favour of the resolution to oust the four above-mentioned members from the National Executive and signed the resolution. Eight members voted against the resolution. Two members filed written dissents, while 54 members did not participate in the voting, including those who walked out,” said Sanjay Singh, senior AAP leader.

Earlier, the AAP leader said on Saturday that taking into view the present scenario, a break-up within the party cannot be ruled out.

“Taking into view the present scenario, we cannot rule out the breaking up of AAP. We made serious efforts to resolve issues and agreed up on all of their terms,” he said.

Yadav had earlier claimed that there was no proper voting for taking the decision of ousting them. “This is murder of democracy... There was no distinction between members and invitees,” he said.
He further added: “There were many who opposed it, they were not even given the chance. It is a total mockery of democracy.”

While, Anand Kumar, a professor in Jawaharlal Nehru University, who was also ousted,  said that they will not leave the party.

However, Sanjay Singh denied any of such happenings. “No violence had taken place. No one was hit or injured,” he told media persons after the meeting.
