The North Delhi Municipal Corporation launched the 'Segregation of waste at source' in six of its colonies, said Mayor Preety Agarwal on Monday. She informed that the Corporation will now collect the garbage in a segregated manner.
"Biodegradable and recyclable to dispose of the waste in six colonies-Shakti Nagar (Civil Lines Zone), Pushpanjali (Rohini Zone), New Rajender Nagar (Karol Bagh Zone), Vivekanand Puri (Sader Pahar Ganj Zone), Municipal Quarter (City Zone) and Indira Colony (Narela Zone)," said Mayor.

She said that awareness programme has already been initiated by visiting each household, schools and commercial complex and signature on pledge are being taken that they would always dispose of the garbage in separate bins by putting biodegradable in green and recyclable in blue.

"Un-segregated waste will not be collected in above six colonies from now. The garbage disposed will decrease load on landfill site and citizen can make wealth of recyclable waste by disposing it to the kabadis," added the Mayor.
