CBI arrests KVIC official, middleman in bribery case

Ambalal: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Raj Pal, Junior Executive of Khadi Vikas & Industrial Commission (KVIC), Ambala (Haryana) and middleman Ram Niwas Sharma in a bribery case.

A case was registered on a complaint alleging that the complainant had applied for a loan of Rs.5 lakh under Prime Minster Employment Generation Programme and appeared in the District Secretariat at Kaithal on July 11, 2018 where he was to be interviewed by the concerned government functionaries including the accused.

It was further alleged that Raj Pal told the complainant that he should contact Ram Niwas Sharma for getting his loan sanctioned.

Accordingly, he was told that loan would be passed only after paying bribe at the rate of 3 per cent which come to Rs.15000.

Later, CBI laid a trap in which both the accused were caught while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.15,000. Searches were conducted at the residence of accused which led to recovery of certain documents.

The arrested accused were produced in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, in Panchkula on Monday.
