Work on NTPC-Mouda stage II to start today

Work will be started on the NTPC-Mouda stage II project with the laying of the foundation stone by Union Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge) Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday. The second phase of the project will consist of two 660 mw units.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and the energy, finance and planning minister will be present on the occasion.
Located 45 km from Nagpur, the Mouda project is NTPC's first power station in the state of Maharashtra. Stage I if the project has two 500-mw units, of which one is already operational. The second unit is likely to become onstream this year itself.
Stage II of the NTPC-Mouda project, will have two units of 660-mw capacity each. Built using super-critical technology, it will have high plant efficiency with 99.95 per cent dust separation. Coal for the project has been arranged from the Mahanadi and Western Coal Fields and water from the Gosikurd dam. The project will supply power to the states of western India.
