Work on much-awaited Gr Noida Metro to begin in 2014

Work on the much-awaited 30 km long Noida-Greater Noida Metro link will begin in May 2014. The project, estimated at Rs 5,500 crore, is expected to be completed by 2016.

Rama Raman, chairman, Greater Noida Authority on Monday informed, ‘The construction work for the metro rail line will begin from May next year and we will try to complete it within two years. The metro line will be a boon for the people living in the city as well as who work in the city, as it will provide them faster connectivity between Noida and Delhi.’

The 29.5 km-long metro line between Noida City Centre and Boraki in Greater Noida will be the first link developed by Noida Metro Rail Company and would be financed 25% by Noida Authority and Greater Noida Authority each, and the rest will be taken up by the Central Government. The line will have 22 stations linking some of the busiest spots in the cities. The anticipated stations will include Sector 50, 51, 78, 81, 83, 101, 137, 143, 144, 147, 149, 153, Dadri Road, Knowledge Park 2, Alpha 1, Knowledge Park 4, Pari Chowk, Delta, Alpha 2, and Bodaki in Greater Noida.

Rama Raman is also hopeful that the metro link will boost the realty sector market and encourage home buyers to invest in Greater Noida.

On October this year, the UP cabinet had given its green signal to NMRC for developing the Greater Noida-Noida metro rail link.
