‘Woody Allen called me awful,’ says actor Cate Blanchett

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett has revealed that her Blue Jasmine director Woody Allen told her she was “awful” during filming.

Although the 46-year-old actor went on to win an Oscar for her role in the movie, she revealed that the director was initially not impressed reported Female First.

“The first day was brutal. He came up to me said, ‘This is awful and you’re awful’. As if he were talking about someone else, some other actor and that maybe I could go and have a word with her.

“And then three weeks later it turned out that he didn’t like the costumes, he didn’t like the locations, he didn’t like the scene. He said, ‘You’ve got to help me rescue this movie’,” Blanchett said.

The actor said Allen’s indecisiveness made her step up and take charge.

“I realised I had to demand things from him. And sometimes he would look at me just bewildered. But I’m not particularly needy.”
