Woman strangulated to death by live-in partner

A woman, who was in her mid-thirties, was allegedly strangulated to death by her live-in partner at their rented accommodation in north-west Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar area on May 29 night. The accused later wrapped the woman’s body in a bedsheet and shoved it inside an almirah before he fled the scene, police said on Monday.
The woman was identified as Anita, whose husband died around 10 years ago and they had two sons. While one of them stayed with Anita, the other stayed with her former in-laws.
According to the police, the woman’s body was discovered on Sunday, when neighbours called up the police and complained of <g data-gr-id="26">foul</g> smell emanating from the rented house, raising suspicion.
The police rushed to the spot immediately and sent the body for a post-mortem.
From the neighbours, the cops came to know about her live-in partner, identified as Shiv Nandan, who went missing for the past two days. The cops tracked him down for questioning. During questioning, Shiv confessed to <g data-gr-id="36">have</g> killed Anita in a fit of rage that ensued after an argument over Anita not cooking the dinner on time on the day of the incident. He was arrested for murder, said a police official.
According to a police source, Anita was sent to jail 10 years ago in connection to the death of her husband. In jail, she was introduced to Shiv, who would often come to meet his sister, another <g data-gr-id="29">in-mate</g> and a good friend of Anita. When she was released, she moved in with Shiv and rented a room near <g data-gr-id="31">Majhlis</g> Park in Adarsh Nagar. On Sunday, their neighbours told the police that they would often fight over trivial issues.
