Woman sentenced for spying for Al-Qaeda

A 38-year-old Pakistani woman, who spied for Al-Qaeda, was on Wednesday sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment by an anti-terrorism court here.
The court sentenced Maria Sultan to five years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on her.
The court announced the verdict after the prosecution department of Punjab government presented relevant evidence in the case.
According to the charge-sheet, Sultan was a member of Al-Qaeda’s Lahore chapter.
She allegedly provided sensitive information about the offices of intelligence agencies and some
officers to the members of the Al-Qaeda network.
She was caught spying near an office of an intelligence agency here and a case was registered against her for spying for Al-Qaeda.
