Woman run over by DTC bus

A woman died and two persons, including a six-year-old boy, were injured when the motorbike they were travelling in was hit by a speeding low floor DTC bus near south Delhi’s Bhatti Mines area on Saturday evening.

The woman, identified as Sunita, was riding pillion on the motorbike which was being driven by her brother Sonu. Her nephew, Kiran, was sitting between the two of them. By the time the locals could stop the bus, the driver fled the spot abandoning the vehicle. He was later arrested and booked for rash driving and causing death by negligence, said a police official.

Meanwhile, some agitated locals set the bus on fire and also pelted stones at police officials who had come to control the situation. A sub Inspector was also injured in the incident and police later had to resort to mild force.
