Woman nabbed for ‘pushing’ student into flesh trade

A 35-year-old woman, who allegedly tried to push a Delhi University student into a sex racket in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar was beaten up and had her face blackened by locals after the girl sensed her intentions and managed to escape on Saturday. The woman was later arrested by the police.
The victim who is pursuing her graduation from Delhi University told the police that the accused woman was once her neighbour. In the recent past, the accused identified as Mona shifted to Uttam Nagar. She had allegedly invited the victim to her residence and had ever since then held the victim as hostage in her house.
On March 9, the victim’s parents had allegedly approached the police station, but no action was taken against the accused. On March 12, the victim heard Mona trying to involve her in a sex racket. The victim managed to make a call to her father and somehow managed to escape from the accused’s residence. She narrated the ordeal to her parents who later approached the police. A team along with RWA and an NGO went to the residence of the accused and nabbed her. The accused woman denied the allegations and narrated another story, framing the victim as an accused. A case under relevant sections has been registered against her at the Uttam Nagar police station.
