Woman kills self in Metro station after break up

A 23-year-old undergraduate from the Delhi University allegedly killed herself by jumping from the building of Nangloi Metro Station in West Delhi on Wednesday morning. The deceased was reported to be depressed as her boyfriend was about to get married to someone else on Wednesday.

According to the police, the incident was reported at around 6.40 am and the woman had come to the Metro station only to jump off from the building. 

She jumped towards the road from platform number 2 and was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital immediately, where she was admitted with both her legs fractured and other severe injuries. Her condition was reported to be critical and she succumbed to the injuries in the afternoon.

The woman, who was pursing her graduation from the School of Open Learning in the University of Delhi, lived with her parents at Kirari village. On Wednesday morning, she had left home for appearing in the history paper.

Her parents later told the police about her recent break up with the man she had dated for a long time. The man was also about to get married on Wednesday. The woman’s body was handed over to her parents in the evening after the post-mortem examination, said a police official.

On Sunday, a youth had committed suicide by jumping on the Metro tracks at Malviya Nagar Metro station.
