A 62-year-old woman, absconding since 2014 after duping a man of Rs 30 lakh promising to place his son in government service, has been arrested, police said on Saturday. Deboshree Chakravorty and her associate MN Chaoudhary were declared proclaimed offenders by a court in November last year and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for anyone providing information about them, said AK Singla, DCP (Northeast).
The duo and their associate Shashank Bhadra were accused of duping Prakash Chand Sharma of Rs 30.20 lakh in September 2014. Sharma had said in his complaint to police that the three duped him on the pretext of providing government jobs to his son Ashutosh and relatives. But that never happened. In March, 2015, an FIR was lodged in the matter. Bhadra was arrested but the other two were absconding and declared proclaimed offenders by a court on November 25.
