Woman hangs self, asks son to inform husband

A 23-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide after an altercation with her husband at Nivedita Kunj near RK Puram in south Delhi on Saturday. The victim reportedly asked her 5-year-old son to call up his father once she was dead.
Roba hailed from West Bengal and was working as a domestic help at the residence of an Army Brigadier in Delhi. She lived in Nivedita Kunj with her husband, Sonu, and two children aged one and five years, said a source.
According to a source, the victim had a fight with her husband before he left for work at a nearby petrol pump. She allegedly hanged herself keeping her 5-year-old son as a witness to the entire act. The child was also asked to call his father once Roba was dead.
‘The child saw his mother die. He did as he was instructed and called up his father, who rushed home immediately,’ said the source.
The matter was reported to the police at 6.30 am on Saturday after which a police team rushed to the spot and found the woman dead. ‘It was the 5-year-old child who narrated the entire incident to the police and admitted to have seen his mother dying,’ said a police official.
It looks like a clear suicide case but no suicide note has been found at the victim’s residence. Sonu is being interrogated, said a source. He further said, the body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation is going on.
Sonu and Roba got married six years ago when they both worked at a petrol pump in RK Puram. ‘After marriage, Roba left her job but Sonu still worked at the same petrol pump. Lately, she had started working at the Brigadier’s residence as domestic help, whose name police didn’t disclose,’ the source added.
