A 30-year-old woman, working as a manager in a private company, was gang-raped by an accountant and his associate in a four-star hotel near Gurgaon’s old bus stand.
The accused identified, as Manish Kapoor (32) and Kamal (30), were arrested by the Gurgaon police after a case of gang rape was registered against them by the victim at the Civil Lines police station.
The police said the incident came to light on 18 April when she was called by the accused to Gurgaon from Rohini. The victim is a resident of Rohini and was depressed over complications arising from the admission process of her six-year-old son to a prominent school in Delhi.
‘Kapoor was working as an accountant in Gurgaon based company and he knew the victim. He persuaded the victim that he had good contacts in some prominent Delhi-based schools and would recommend her son’, said a senior police official from Gurgaon police.
Kapoor had called the victim from Rohini to the City Mark hotel for a meeting with Kamal at noon on 18 April. After the victim arrived, both the accused took her for lunch. After lunch, they took her to the hotel room, which was already booked by the accused.
‘In the hotel room, they offered her a soft drink laced with sedatives. After falling unconscious the accused took turns to rape her. The victim was dropped at Rohini in the evening. The victim narrated the entire story to her family and first approached the Delhi police. However, as the incident of offence occurred in Gurgaon, the case has been handed over to Gurgaon police’, the official said.
After a case was registered and victim’s statement was recorded, the police arrested the accused person on Sunday night. Medical examination of the victim confirmed rape.
