Woman constable shoots self, out of danger

A 35-year old woman constable allegedly shot herself on the abdomen with a country-made pistol in North East Delhi’s Gokalpuri area on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. She is out of danger now, and police are investigating the reason behind the incident. The woman constable has been identified as Rakhi.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 4am on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when Rakhi held a country-made pistol given to her by someone which accidentally got fired and the bullet hit her abdomen.

Police said that Rakhi is posted as a constable in the office of the North-East Delhi’s Deputy Commissioner and lives in the Johripur area of North-East Delhi.

According to the police, the real motive behind the accidental firing will be known only when Rakhi recovers from her injury and gives her statement. Police also said that after recording her statement, they will take appropriate action.
