Woman chases snatchers on scooty, gets them nabbed

A 41-year-old woman helped nab two bike-borne snatchers by chasing them on her scooty after they snatched her bag in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area. Later, it was learnt that the duo accused were involved in at least eight cases of snatching in the area.
The brave attempt to nab the snatchers took place on Sunday at around 9 pm, when Shalini was going towards Punjabi Bagh from her residence in Paschim Vihar to receive her mother-in-law from a bus stand.

On her way to the bus stand, she stopped at a traffic signal on North Avenue Road. In the meantime, a Pulsar bike stopped besides her. Two men, on the bike, suddenly snatched her handbag kept and fled away. Shalini chased the criminals on her scooty.

In her statement to the police, she alleged that a few kilometers away, the bikers took a turn near central market in Punjabi Bagh and reaching few meters ahead, they were forced to stop on seeing the road closed.

Meanwhile, Shalini blocked their way with her vehicle and raised an alarm. The passersby, then helped her and tried to catch them. In the meantime, a PCR van also reached the spot and nabbed the duo accused.

The accused have been identified as Manmeet Singh (19) and Rahul Rai (23). Singh works as a disc jockey, while Rai works as a stage dancer. Both of them confessed their involvement in the recent past’s snatching cases of gold chains and hand bags. Both the criminals have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
