A 30-year-old woman was charred to death while two others sustained severe burn injuries in a road accident on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura region on Saturday evening. Police said that the impact of the collision was so severe that the victims’ car disintegrated into two parts. The vehicle that was engulfed in flames, hit other vehicles in the vicinity. The victims were rushed to a hospital in Noida where one was declared brought dead while the condition of the others was stated to be critical.
The accident also caused massive traffic snarls on the carriageway and traffic police took two hours to restore normalcy. A similar incident has also been reported from Noida in which the vehicle’s occupant sustained burn injuries as a result of the collision.
As per reports, the accident took place on Agra-Greater Noida carriageway near 105 milestone in Mant area of Mathura region when Ranveer Singh Bhadauria (32), his wife Archana (30) and Ankur Agarwal, residents of Etawah district, were on their way to New Delhi in a Ford Figo. As the vehicle was travelling at a high speed, a fire broke in its engine following which Ankur, who was in the driving seat, lost his balance. The vehicle hit a divider and turned turtle several times. The impact of the collision was such that the car broke into two parts and its debris lay scattered on both sides of the highway. A few vehicles, passing through the stretch veered away in bid to avoid the flying debris, this in turn resulted in a traffic pile-up.
When the matter was reported, a Mathura police reached the spot and the victims were taken to Jaypee hospital in Noida.
