Woman and her lover kill brother for opposing marriage

The police on Wednesday arrested a woman and her lover, for allegedly killing her 19-year-old brother who vehemently opposed their plans of getting married at Rani Bag area in north-west Delhi.

As narrated by a police official, the victim Tejyash (19) was allegedly killed on Tuesday by his own sister Navpreet Kaur (22) and her lover Varun Chauhan (27).

The police reached the spot on receiving a PCR call at 10:25 am and found the victim bleeding profusely. He was stabbed several times and his throat was slit. He was rushed to the hospital immediately, where he was announced brought dead.

During the investigation, it was found that the two accused – Navpreet and Varun – had a love affair for the past six years and the girl’s family was opposed to the relationship.

The victim — Navpreet’s own younger brother — was vehemently against their plans to get married and the accused thought that removing him could make things easier for them, said a police official.
The official further added that Varun had admitted to have purchased a knife for the purpose. On Tuesday morning when no one was there in the house, except the victim and his sister, Navpreet let Varun inside the house and left for office soon. Tejyash usually slept till late morning, and that is when Varun attacked him with the sharp-edged knife.

Navpreet was equally involved in the conspiracy. Both the weapon with which the crime was committed and Varun’s blood-drenched clothes were recovered after a thorough search. Both the accused have been booked under Section 302 of IPC (murder) and further investigation is on, the police official added.
