The incident hit train operations on the blue line for nearly 15 minutes. The deceased was identified as Qadir. He belonged to Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh and lived in Delhi with his uncle at a rented accommodation in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.
“He jumped before an approaching train on platform number 1 around 12.20 pm. The train was coming from Dwarka and going towards Rajiv Chowk. Train operations were hit for nearly 15 minutes following the incident,” said a senior police official.
According to the police, Qadir was standing on the edge of the platform and he suddenly jumped on the track giving people around him hardly any time to react. He was quickly pulled up and taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
However, the police did not find any suicide note from the spot and police will question his family to ascertain the reason behind his extreme step. His uncle told police that he left the house saying that he was going out for work.
On Wednesday, a 28-year-old man jumped in front of a train at Chttarpur Metro station in south Delhi. Police investigation revealed that he was suffering from depression.
