With seats still vacant, DU extends admission process

With a significant number of seats still vacant in various colleges, the Delhi University on Wednesday decided to continue the admission process and has asked colleges to come up with three more vacant seats’ merit lists.

“In view of the vacant seats in the different undergraduate courses in the colleges of the University of Delhi, it has been decided that the admission will continue with three more cut-off lists,” said Prof J M Khurana, Dean of Students Welfare.

According to the University statement, the sixth list (first of the proposed three lists) will be out on August 20, and the seventh and eighth lists on August 14 and on August 29, respectively.

This year, DU initially released only five cut-off lists. The University then told colleges to come up with their own merit lists. These lists were released in two phases. In the first phase, three merit lists were notified and in the second, two.

The process of admission based on the last merit list of second phase ended on Tuesday, which was supposed to end the admission process for this year. However, with many vacant seats, especially in the reserved categories, the University on Monday extended the admission process.
