With no alternative, Ggn bus stand runs under poor conditions

Despite repeated complaints of the deteriorating infrastructure at the Gurgaon bus stand by commuters as well transportation officials, situation remains the same. With no alternative available for the local commuters, the dilapidated bus stand is posing more troubles at the Millennium city.

Owing to the poor and old infrastructure of the bus stand, the Haryana government had ordered to seal the building. Some of the roadways officials told the Millennium Post that despite the building has been sealed by the government, chances are it may take a long time for a revamped bus stand to come up owing to various administrative and bureaucratic challenges.

Sharing on the hurdles been faced by the government agencies, a senior roadways official highlighted, “Three locations, which were marked as an alternative for the Gurgaon Bus Stand for the time being, were Rajiv Chowk, Sector 29 area and the largest of all with the land holding of about 86 acres at Narsinghpur village. While the stay order by the court due to resistance by villagers has stalled the work at Narsinghpur, the land holdings at other two areas of Sector 29 and Rajiv Chowk are found to be too small for holding the capacity for future.”

Acknowledging conditions at the bus stand are poor, the official further added, “As anyone who visits the area can witness the neglected, poor and weak condition of the building, it is not only for the commuter but also at the offices of the officials.”  There are around 300 DTC buses ply on daily basis from Delhi to Gurgaon from Karol Bagh, Anand Vihar, Uttam Nagar and Badaprpur depots and a a lone Volvo service is operational between Gurgaon and Chandigarh.
