With Delhi on their mind

Inspired by the architechture and design of the city, Shaher – e – Dilli is a series of renderings on Delhi . Through this collection of work the artist is trying to bring to the limelight the referential sketch that serves as a visual diary, a record of an architect’s discovery. There is a certain joy in their creation, which comes from the interaction between the mind and the hand. Our physical and mental interactions with drawings are formative acts. A sketch may serve a number of purposes: it might record something that the artist sees, it might record or develop an idea for later use or it might be used as a quick way of graphically demonstrating an image, idea or principle.
What one finds in these sketches are the magic that is hidden in the ruins and the monuments spread all over the city. From quaint corners to tombs every historical landmark of the city is captured in these sketches that have their own fascinating story to share.
