“DUTA appeals to the teachers’ community to boycott ongoing admission process as our most of the demands have yet not been fulfilled,” reads a statement of Delhi University Teachers Association.
The National Democratic Teachers Front’s (NDTF) president, A K Bhagi asserted: “Till the time our demands are not meted we will not assist in the ongoing admission process and we will also not participate in any staff committee meeting.”
However, unofficially, the DU administration has signaled that they will engage non-teaching staff to run the admission process smoothly.
The teachers have already boycotted checking of examination papers of graduation first and second year. The boycott started on May 24, a few days after the evaluation had started. The teachers are protesting against UGC’s notification that will, teachers say, bring down the number of teaching positions by 50 per cent with “unreasonable” terms of promotion and workload.
However, the agitating teachers have started checking examination papers of graduation final years’ students.
Meanwhile, the University announced its first cut-off list on Wednesday.
