Widow of Indian killed in US mishap sues railroad

The widow of an India-origin man, who was killed during a horrific train accident here in February, has sued the New York State and the public transportation agency for $25 million.
Aditya Tomar, 41, was among the six victims of a crash between a Metro-North train and an SUV in the New York suburb of Valhalla. The Danbury resident was born in India and moved to the US to pursue his education and a career in the financial industry. He was a vice president at JP Morgan Asset Management.
On May 1 his wife, Reshma Persaud, filed a claim against Metro-North Railroad, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the state of New York, the county of Westchester and the town of Mt.Pleasant, seeking 25 million in damages, a report in Fox Connecticut said. According to the claim filed on behalf of his wife and estate, Tomar suffered burns, fractures to his skull, ribs and extremities and lacerations to his brain, heart and lungs.
The notice of intent alleges he suffered mental and physical pain prior to his death.Â
