Jaitley, on the context of Rahul’s decision to bring ordinances, said, ‘The government has no business in bringing the anti-corruption ordinances at this stage. I would like to ask why the government has waked up after 10 years in power, just before the polls.’
‘I had not heard a single statement from Rahul Gandhi on corruption in Parliament. He now says these are his bills. Has he ever spoken once on any anti-graft bill? Do you remember a single speech he has delivered in the last 10 years inside the parliament or outside the House on corruption? The next government should ideally be entitled to its own bills and not the bills of somebody who is a potential loser,’ he said, in an interview to a television channel.
On 8 February and on 23 February, Millennium Post first broke the news that Rahul Gandhi is planning to bring ordinances for anti-corruption bills and women’s reservation bill.
‘Are these bills being brought in because of ideological conviction or are these bills being brought in merely because somebody who doesn’t have identification with an anti-corruption movement now wants to be an entrant in to the anti-corruption crusade?’ the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha said.
On the context of ‘Third Front’, he said, ‘I would like to define it as a ‘Losers Front’. The 2014 election will be dominated by governance issues. Economy, corruption, security and leadership appear to be the principal issues. I have an uneasy feeling that the Losers Front will become smaller and smaller.’
