‘Who gets water’ leads to woman’s death

The on-going water crisis in Nuh took a horrifying turn when it led to the murder of a 29-year-old woman who was allegedly killed on Monday afternoon after she had a quarrel with one of her neighbours over water. The accused was arrested within few hours of the incident.
The fight broke out between the residents staying on rent who didn’t pay for the water tanks being supplied to their colony. The accused, Mubeen Khan took out a knife and stabbed Guddi to death after the two got into a heated argument over the usage of water.
According to the information received, four families lived in a multi-storey house belonging to Seetaram Niwaab of ward no 7 in Nuh area. The accused Mubeen did not pay for the amount of water used amounting to Rs 200, which led to a quarrel between him and his neighbour Guddi.
After having killed Guddi, Mubeen fled from the spot immediately. The victim along with her husband had been living in that colony for the past six years. Jalalu Khan, the husband of the victim, sells sugarcane juice to earn living for his family. Guddi hailed from village Marota in Uttar Pradesh.
After the case was registered with the Mewat Police, cops started the investigation and arrested the accused. According to police, the victim died on the spot. The body was taken to the civil hospital for post-mortem and later on handed over to her family.
People in Nuh have been facing major water crisis for the past one month. Most of them are dependent only on water tankers for the supply of drinking water.
