When will Lalit be brought back, Cong asks BJP

Reviving the Lalit Modi controversy involving Union minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, the Congress on Friday asked the Central Government to specify a time frame for bringing back former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi to the country and alleged that he enjoyed the patronage of the ruling NDA dispensation. The Enforcement Directorate has said it wishes to question the former IPL chief on money laundering charges.

“Prime Minister should tell us when he will get Lalit Modi back into the country. We demand PM to give a statement on his ministers aiding Lalit Modi, and take a firm stand by sacking External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala. He said the Congress would raise the issue both inside and outside Parliament.

Accusing the PM of shielding Lalit Modi, Surjewala said, “Britain has a law that immigrants, who have no passport documents, should be deported. But his ministers within his party have assisted Lalit to maintain a fair distance from the law. UPA wanted Lalit to be brought back so that his case can be expedited.”
