When Indian shopaholics go crazy

To what extent can a person bend to get the vouchers for a favourite clothing brand? A degree of madness was witnessed in the national Capital on Thursday and Friday, where fashion aficionados camped outside the store to get offers and vouchers, which the top-notch store was offering to the first few lucky customers.

People started queuing up near the store since Thursday morning and stayed overnight for the launch that happened on Friday morning at Select Citywalk mall, Saket.

The store offered vouchers and goodies for the few lucky people who had registered themselves first and entered the store on Friday morning after the grand opening at 11 am.

The group of young college girls, who were there since Thursday morning revealed their liking towards the brand and talked about the excitement which this overnight long wait had to offer.

“The thing is that it hasn’t come to India yet. We’ve been waiting for it since September, but it came late, but the wait is worth it. We’re really excited because we’ve only seen it on TV and our relatives who’ve bought it from outside. We really love the brand,” said Yuli, a student from Miranda House, Delhi University.

“Actually we haven’t told them anything about this (girls giggle). We wanted to experience this. As we are from outside Delhi, our parents will never know that we did something like this,” added Yuli.

“I think even if our parents come to know they would be okay because there are 4-5 of us,” added another friend who was huddled up in a bed sheet with remaining friends.

The security was assured by the organisers who kept a constant check on the participants.

The winner Abhinay, an ardent follower of the brand, was the first person to register and he waited since 4:30 am on Thursday to collect his voucher.

Millennium Post asked <g data-gr-id="39">Abhinay,</g> if the wait was boring and tiring to which he replied, “Yes it got boring after a while but then we had time for a good nap. Our motive was to witness this excitement because overnight queuing up does not happen in Indian cities.” Two school children, along with an older cousin also camped outside the store. The 16-year-old boy Aadarsh, who lives in Chandigarh, came all the way to experience this.

The elder cousin who accompanied him said, “We love the brand and hence it is okay to experience something like this with cousins.”
