Organisers of the prestigious Wharton India Economic Forum (WIFE) seem to have approached Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to speak at the event scheduled for 23 and 23 March. The event has already created a massive controversy over cancelling Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s keynote address via video-conferencing. Quite a few speakers and even a couple of sponsors pulled out from the event after the invitation to Modi was withdrawn on Monday. The student organisers of the meet, forced to cancel Modi’s address owing to pressure from crucial stakeholders, have reportedly been offered help by the Congress. The management, a few professors and an anti-Modi lobby of the alumni were instrumental behind the move. Union minister Shashi Tharoor and Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit have also been approached to speak at the event. The latter have reportedly given her consent to go to the prestigious institute.
