West Bengal minister Madan Mitra gets bail

West Bengal minister Madan Mitra, who was arrested by CBI during investigations into Sarada ponzi scheme scam, on Saturday got bail from a court after more than 10 months. Mitra, was granted bail by ACJM (in-charge) of Alipore District and Sessions Court Partha Das on condition that he would furnish a bond of Rs two lakh, cannot leave the state, submit his passport and cooperate with the investigation process. Moving the bail plea, Mitra’s counsel Ashok Mukherjee told the court that CBI was seeking the defendant’s further stay in jail as they felt that he was a prominent person and might influence when granted bail.
